You can apply for the card in person at Canberra Connect shopfronts or by mail.
You can download a copy of the form here http://www.ors.act.gov.au/community/working_with_vulnerable_people/forms_and_fees
As a volunteer you are not required to pay a fee for the card.
The Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 (the Act) commenced on 8 November 2012, with individuals working or volunteering in ‘Activities or Services for Children’ having until 7 November 2013 to become registered. Individuals working or volunteering with other groups of vulnerable people will need to register between years 2 and 6 of the scemes operation.
The Act aims to reduce the risk of harm or neglect to vulnerable people in the A.C.T.
The Act requires people who have contact with vulnerable people while engaging in regulated activities and services to register with the Office of Regulatory Services (ORS).
